Description
Elitch Gardens Theme and Water Park, locally known as “Elitch’s”, is an amusement park in Denver, Colorado. It is owned by Stanley Kroenke and operated by Premier Parks, LLC. It is unique in that it is located in a downtown area and is open May through October.
As space was getting scarce at the original location of Elitch Gardens at 38th Avenue and Tennyson Street, the Gurtler family and their financial partners purchased a 67.7-acre (274,000 m2) plot of land in the Platte River valley near downtown Denver for the price of $6.1 million in June 1994. $90 million was spent relocating some rides from the original park and construction of the new park. The money was from a mix of public and private dollars and various loans.
On October 1, 1994, the original park closed its gates forever and a majority of the rides were moved to the new property. On May 27, 1995, the new one opened up to lower than expected crowds. Attendance was weaker than the expected 1.2 million guests the park aimed for.[citation needed] Some notable rides at the park’s opening were the original Carousel and Sidewinder roller coaster, relocated from the old park; and a new version of the Mister Twister, the Twister II.
For your safety rides have height, weight and size restrictions. Seating safety devices must close as intended by the ride manufacturer. Many children can ride several of our adult rides. We recommend that you have your child’s height measured early during your visit. Ride height restrictions are subject to change without notice. A Supervising Companion is defined as a Guest who meets all the requirements to ride alone and is at least 16 years of age and demonstrates appropriate observed conduct.
Certain rides and attractions, including new rides, may not be open at all times due to maintenance, weather and other circumstances.
Soaring above the Denver skyline comes one of the tallest rides in Colorado. Star Flyer, a ride so high it will leave you gasping for air! On this extreme swing ride, 48 guests sit two across in open-air seats, feet dangling and hair blowing, ascending to the top of the 17 story tower while flying round and round.
Lose your mind on Brain Drain, the All-New 7-story steel looping thrill ride that sends riders forwards, backwards and head-over-heels in an adrenaline drenched 360° revolution.
Guests can let their hair fly as they shuttle back and forth with suspense before wildly looping seven stories in the air. With back to back seats facing either direction, each ride on Brain Drain is a unique experience with great views of the Denver skyline and the Rocky Mountains.
Whoa. Sit in your chair and get comfy before spinning forwards and backwards on this thrill ride. The Thunder Bolt at Elitch Gardens will send you back and forth around in a circle for an all out fun ride.
The family can compete as you make your way through this “frightfully fun” interactive haunted house. Whoever boo-blasts the most ghosts wins!
Little hot-rods can also zoom around on Mike’s Bikes, a motorcycle ride that gives kids the rush of the open road.
Experience the thrill and adventure of white water rafting as you whirl through churning, surging rapids. But beware, you’re sure to get wet (even soaked) on this ride.
This exciting water-bound excursion sends riders plunging over a 50-foot waterfall into a tidal wave splash.
Featuring our famous Sidewinder Green Chili Cheese Fries! Enjoy gourmet grilled burgers, jumbo hot dogs and ice cold beer & Pepsi® beverages.
