Description
Keepers of the Wild, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, is currently home to over 140 exotic and indigenous wild animals that were rescued, surrendered by an owner, or placed with us by other animal welfare agencies. Animals placed at Keepers of the Wild can depend on a safe and life-long home.
Bam Bam arrived August 28, 2014. An animal trainer purchased her as a cub and used her in entertainment. The animal trainer decided to advance his career and was unable to keep her. Unable to find her a home he was planning to euthanize her. Just days away from being euthanized- Keepers of the Wild was notified of Bam Bam’s fate and we agreed to take her.
Juliett – arrived 5-24-2007 Juliett is part of 10 primates rescued by Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Maricopa County, AZ. The primates were at a private home with a large number of other animals, which were all being badly neglected by the owners. Juliett now shares her habitat with Vladamir, another monkey from this rescue.
Banyanita, a 9 year old female Arctic Wolf is the mother of Shadow, Pawnee & Unita. Her and her family survived a blazing inferno by digging a 15 ft. tunnel underground. They are known as the “Miracle Wolves of the Butte Fire”
Apollo – arrived 6-28-2008 Brought to us from Oklahoma. He was primarily used for photo opportunities. Having avoided euthanasia, he has a happy home here at Keepers of the Wild.
Flo arrived on 8-4-2010 Adobe Mountain Wildlife Center contacted us about three baby bobcats ( Flo, Casanova and Daisy) that had been rescued by a local animal control center out of New River Arizona. All three babies have acclimated to each other and have been moved to an outdoor natural habitat built especially for them.
Snowy arrived 6-25-2005 Snowy was rescued from a residential horse property, his mate had passed away and he was not handleable. The new property owner had been caring for him and had not seen his owner for months. She contacted Keepers to help and we were able to take him in. He now resides in our Serengeti, with a wide variety of hoof stock. He is especially protective of the herd of Fallow Deer.
Captain Jack Skittles – arrived 7-10-2008 Skittles was donated to Keepers from our veterinarian. Animals are easily dropped off at the veterinary clinics, because people feel they have a good chance of getting a new home. This is not always the case and the staff usually winds up caring and fostering these animals. We took in Skittles to join the other Conures that live here.
